Laxmi Vilas Palace, originally known as Raghnuth Niwas, was built in 1899 A.D. for the younger son of the Maharaja of Bharatpur – Jaswant Singh. The palace is an interesting combination of traditional Rajput and Mughal style of architecture as was prevalent during those times. The sunny courtyards and enchanting cupolas enthral the visitor. Spacious, airy rooms which open into an inner courtyard are adorned with colourful frescoes, period furniture and several antiques and objects d’art which remind one of the magnificent lifestyles of a bygone era.
