About DELHI & NORTH INDIA

Delhi - The Eternal City, reinvented nine times, is India's First City. The vibrant capital of an emerging superpower nation, it is a cultural hub that excites and entices the travelers with its exotic bazaars. Its stunning legacy of ancient monuments and antique shrines, step wells and riverside vignettes, museums, recreational spaces and culinary traditions set your tastebuds clamoring for more. The people, over 1.5 million of them, have wrapped their city around themselves and learnt the wise lessons of enterprise and commerce, hospitality and equanimity. An odyssey of discovery reveals the cities within the city, uncovered gently as you peel away the gauzy veils that clothe its glory and tumultuous antiquity all marked by the power play of kings and sultans, emperors and warlords. This world-renowned gateway capital - a tourist hub in its own right, with its monuments and atmospheric ruins, colonial mansions and tree-lined avenues, public gardens and posh contemporary comforts, throws open the casements to the wonder that is India.

The Northern Plains

At the geographic heart of the lush northern plains of India, running from the northwest to the east and watered by the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna, lies Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, and the holy seventh century city of Varanasi, contemporary of Babylon and Ninevah, with its bathing ghats and bazaars of deep antiquity selling rich brocades and embroideries dating to a 2000-year tradition, the Corbett National Park's forested tiger havens and the brooding Buddhist monasteries of Bodhgaya. Gujarat is a land of legends and wild encounters, rural beauty and cultural diversity. Jeep safaris and village visits, city museums and nature walks open up a world of textile traditions, ancient tribal cultures and encounters with rare and endangered creatures at Gir National Park and the Little Rann of Kutch.
