Overview

This premier birding journey combines with rich nuances of historical interest as you travel to Keoladeo National Park, Corbett National Park, Nimaj, Jodhpur, Jaipur and Taj Mahal. It is possible to see more than 350 species in addition to various mammals, reptiles and butterflies. For someone interested in Indian history there are visits to grand palaces and forts in Jodhpur and Jaipur and to the majestic Taj Mahal at Agra during the first leg of the tour.

Chattra Sagar is a haven for birds with a check list of over 200 species. It is surrounded by pristine wetlands, grasslands and farms.

Keoladeo National Park is one of the great ornithological wetland wonders of the world.

Jim Corbett National Park, in the Himalayan Foothills,it is home to over 600 species of avifauna, apart from its fabulous wealth of wildlife including the Asiatic elephants, tigers, bears and leopards

Day 1 - Arrive Delhi

Met and transfer to hotel. Guided Tour of Old & New Delhi in the afternoon. Stay at hotel Claridges


Day 2 - Delhi / Jodhpur / Nimaj

Morning at leisure. Fly at noon to Jodhpur and drive 2.5 hrs,stay at luxurious Chhatra Sagar Camp. Evening nature walk with your hosts around the lake for those who are keen birders.


Day 3 - Nimaj

Morning and evening nature walk with your hosts, around the lake and adjoining farms.Overnight at Camp


Day 4 - Nimaj

Jeep safari to tribal village accompanied by your hosts, interacting with the villagers. Afternoon at leisure


Day 5 - Nimaj / Jaipur

Drive 4 hours. Afternoon at leisure.  Overnight at Samode Haveli


Day 6 - Jaipur

Full day guided tour of Amber fort, City Palace and the Royal Observatory "Jantar Mantar". Afternoon at leisure.


Day 7 - Jaipur / Bharatpur

Morning drive 2 hours. Afternoon explore the park by cycle rickshaw accompanied by local naturalist.


Day 8 - Bharatpur

Spend the day exploring the park with a local naturalist by cycle rickshaw. Stay at Laxmi Vilas Palace


Day 9 - Bharatpur / Agra / Kuchesar

Morning drive 1 hour via the deserted fort of Fatehpur Sikri to Agra. Visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Later drive 5 hrous to Kuchesar. Overnight at Mud Fort


Day 10 - Kuchesar / Corbett

Morning drive 5 hours to Corbett and remainder of the day at leisure. Stay at Corbett Hideaway resort


Day 11 - Corbett

Morning Game drive with naturalist. Afternoon at leisure.


Day 12 - Corbett

Morning Game drive with naturalist. Afternoon at leisure.


Day 13 - Corbett / Delhi / Departure

Late Morning drive 7 hours to Delhi airport to board onwards International Flight.

Ideas for extending this Journey

3 days elephant safari can be organised in Corbett.

Week in Himalayan Resort from Corbett drive 4 hrs to Kumaon Hills. Stay at Kalmatia Sangam or Pangot for a week to relaxation in Himalayan vista and prime bird habitat.

Rishikesh Drive 4 hrs, spend few day at spa Ananda in the Himalaya in Rishikesh, or in a Camp/Lodge on the Ganges and do white water rafting or kayaking.

Chhatra Sagar, Nimaj

Situated midway off the Jaipur to Jodhpur highway, Chhatra Sagar is neither a fairy-tale palace, nor an impregnable fortress imbued with legends of love and braver but 11 sumptuous Royal tents facing a lake bordered by greenery in the heart of Rajasthan.

Today the Lake is surrounded by lush green fields of wheat, mustard, cotton and chillies and vast grazing pastures, this hundred – year old reservoir with a periphery of about 10 kilometers is an ideal destination for nature lovers and a perfect getaway from the chaotic city life. Migratory birds have also discovered the paradise ducks, pelicans and cranes frolic in the waters of the lake while parrots, eagle owls and hummingbirds dance in the blue vastness of the sky.

 


Mud Fort, Kuchesar

The Mud Fort of Kuchesar was built in the mid 18 century. The fort tells of the chequered history of the jats who vied wit the Sikhs, Marathas, Rohillas, Rajputs, French adventurers and the East India Company to fill the vacuum of the declining Mughal power. The fort is surrounded by wide moat dug to create ramparts. It commands a beautiful view of the fertile Gangetic plains with sugarcane fields and mango orchards. The Holy Ganges is 24 kms away.  


Corbett Hideaway Resort, Corbett

Corbett Hideaway is located in a mango orchard on the banks of the river Kosi, spread over 10 acres. The most beautiful airconditioned cottages are equipped with all modern amenities. The passages are pebbled, the floors made of beautiful tiles and the ceilings of woven mat. The large green spaces, outdoor pool, spa and the library are some of the activities at hand besidesw various nature related activities.There is also a well stocked bar and cigar lounge
